John Sumser – Recruitment Industry Analyst

John Sumser has been thinking and writing about the recruiting industry for nearly 20 years. He currently posts regular columns at johnsumser.com and Recruitingblogs.com. He also started the Recuiting Roadshow which brings local expertise on current and emerging recruiting issues to local venues in an effort to build in-person communities as an essential compliment to online networks.
John (Papa John) was one of the first people to understand how the internet could be used as a recruiting tool and has helped numerous start-up companies become established service providers to the human resources and recruiting industries. One of those is Salary.com which went public in 2007. John currently sits on the Board of Directors and is chairman of the Compensation Committee for Salary.com.
Currently John is developing research on demographics and how changing population and culture affects recruiting, the ways people work and where they work. He is working on a book and regularly consults and gives workshops on how these issues are changing employment and recruiting.

Bill,
I have to agree that it is enlightening to hear John Sumser. I liked how he talked about pioneering social recruiting. There is a big opportunity in talent sourcing and I believe those willing to take the risk now will be better off in the long run. It’s such an exciting time. In three years from now, looking back who do you see is being some of those pioneers and game changers?
